This homemade crunchy maple nut granola hits it out of the park with the flavor of toasted oats and nuts and is just so delicious!
Have you been looking for a healthy, homemade, crisp, delicious granola made with only the ingredients you choose? Look no further than this Homemade Maple Nut Granola!
Here, I am serving up a wonderful concoction of the best things one would want in granola, the crispy crunch, the wonderful flavor, and a sweetness that is not too sweet! This recipe also makes such a conveniently large quantity but somehow I still have a hard time keeping it stocked at our house.
I celebrate healthy recipes and recieve great joy from fueling family with good ”old fashioned” and sometimes even ancient grains. I love knowing that generations ago people were eating this or something very close to the same thing. Choosing your food as close to the dirt as possible is ideal. Knowing the names of each ingredient in the food you make is a great asset to your families overall health. This recipe can be adapted to so many different variations and preferences. I’m sure you can fine tune it to suit your preferences so that it can become a new family favorite in your home, like it is in mine.
For years I wished I could find the perfect granola recipe. It was very unfortunate that all the homemade batches I created never turned out “just right.” Maybe I was a Goldilocks looking for the perfect one but I knew I wanted it to be homemade. I didn’t want to keep buying pre-made, packaged, overly sweet granola forever, but the recipes I made usually had a:
- flavor problem
- texture problem (too soft)
They often times were soft and didn’t have that addictive crunch that is so important when you sit down to enjoy that delicious bowl of granola. I grew discouraged and went for along time without trying anymore new granola recipes. Then….
As with so many other good ideas, my sister made a suggestion. She said I should try a new recipe their family had been enjoying. It had the perfect crunch I had always been looking for! In a way, you could say my granola dreams came true. After years of failing and failing again I finally found it. It was healthy, it was tasty and after tweaking it to suit my fancy I am happy to report that it is now, perfect. That’s a good lesson to some, to persevere if at first you don’t succeed. You may fail a few times at something but it doesn’t mean you won’t ever find the solution. Keep trying!
I did. Here is the result. You’re welcome.

Notes
If you find that It feels a little wet, after baking know that it will dry out some as it cools.
It’s important not let it get too dark, as that will affect the flavor. The goal is a light golden color not a dark brown. You may want to make it a couple times before you find your perfect color doneness.
Can I use different nuts in this homemade granola?
Yes! You could change this basic recipe up to suit you and your families preference. But for me, when I’ve found perfection….. I’m going to stay put. If, however, you have a nut allergy you can leave them out altogether and still enjoy it.
